Sea-breezes enhance stability in the atmosphere

By applying a strict filtering to 10-year observations and mesoscale model results at the Cabauw site, we find the challenges in reproducing the main characteristics of the sea breeze due to small bias in the wind direction and the uncertainty in reproducing land-atmosphere interactions. The analysed cases shows the relevance to simulate correctly the explicit flow of the sea breeze interaction with the parameterized atmospheric turbulence.
