Forest emits CO2 during heatwave

Research of University of Twente shows the importance of long-term monitoring in understanding the impact of climate change on eco-systems. Measurements since 2006 in a forest with Douglas firs at the Veluwe show that trees emit more CO2 than they absorb during heatwaves. It is not known whether other tree species also emit CO2 during warm days.
