Abstract
The article describes the IRCTR PARSAX radar system - high-resolution fully polarimetric Doppler FMCW radar with dual-orthogonal sounding signals, which has the possibility to measure all elements of the radar targets polarization scattering matrix simultaneously, in one sweep. The S-band PARSAX radar has the resolution up to 3 m in the range interval up to 12-15 km. Simultaneous orthogonally-polarized transmission of two independent waveforms, which are also orthogonal in terms of their cross-correlation, and following multi-channel processing of the received signals give the unique possibility to measure all elements of the radar targets scattering matrix in one sweep. Further sweep-by-sweep Doppler processing provides full spectral polarimetric information with velocity ambiguity interval that is in 2-3 times extended in comparison with existed polarimetric radar systems. The radar performance and design provides possibility to work in vertically-pointed mode for the troposphere profiling, but horizontal scans of atmosphere are also available. During the presentation more detailed description of the radar concept and characteristics together with first measurement results will be given.
